Joyeux Noël

A gift-wrapped crate has washed upon the Cursed Island's shore...
Even castaways deserve a little Christmas cheer.

Merry Christmas ...and a Happy New (game packed) Year!

A Finger in several Pies

After several weeks working on a couple of other projects, namely, carving a rather large slab (just over a meter tall) of stone (commissioned as a Birthday gift) and creating a handful of pictures for a recent exhibition - a group exhibition, including works by myself, my sister, mother, and also my father, Peter Brown, who passed away in 2005... I have picked up my Zahle Wax Carver no.5 and sat down to sculpt some more clay.

These pieces are heading off to a fine man in Canada.
To accompany his copy of the Mice and Mystics board game, this selection of sculpts will be being added to an already established collection.

It's certainly a satisfying task, making a fellow gamer's enjoyment of games even more enjoyable through your artwork.

A nutty Swiss and tangy Blue.

The ever-handy Fork.

Meow...

The Grape's of Rats.

Looks like we're heading for the Kitchen.

As well as the M&M, a few pieces for the Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island board game were also requested...

The finest furs.

Crates washed upon the rocks.

The Log Lady would be proud.

Dinner!

The life of the party.

Home wasn't built in a day.

You only had one job!

Brunch.

Now that's a desert island this castaway
wouldn't mind being washed upon.

Currently in transit; fingers crossed the bundle arrives in time for Christmas :)

In case any one is interested, here are a few snaps of the stone slab that buffed, scuffed and calloused my hands over a few weeks - the first stone carving I have attempted - I must say I quite enjoyed doing it, and may well try my hand at it again some time...

The Green Man.

The Rose of Yorkshire.

The stars are right.

Field of grass.

A shaggy Scottie.

Phew ...completed.

Here also are are snaps of some of the pieces that were in the exhibition, including my RC:AotCI pieces...

From the depths.

The brew.

Tea and cakes with Mr Beasley.

Visage #1.

Visage #2.

Robinson Crusoe on display, works by
my sister and mother on the walls.

Happy Gaming!

Return to Volcano Island!

Ruuuuuuuuun! It seems a fresh volcano has now appeared on our castaway's island; well actually, this one will soon be surfacing in the US ...so for now my castaways can sleep in peace (as peacefully anyway, as relentless stormy weather, hungry wild animals, voracious cannibals, and being on the edge of starvation will allow).

I've given this sculpt a sturdier looking crater with a bit more detail in the overall mountain than in my own one, and I must say I'm pretty pleased in how it turned out. Looks a lot more dangerous.

And yes, this is another piece I've made for the fabulous Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island board game by Ignacy Trzewiczek: the Volcano map-tile for the Volcano Island scenario.

Flights may be cancelled due to the extensive ash cloud.

Lava in the rear view mirror may be a lot closer than it appears!

Well, at least now our castaways will have fire :)

Not a hobbit in sight.

I'm not sure if doing a fly-over would be advisable.

Is that a lava flow ...or a giant orange flatworm?
Either way, I'm outa here!

From this side it looks like something that could be found
in Monument Valley in more verdant times.

Fleeeeee!!!!

It seems the encroaching fiery doom has caused a deluge of wild animals to come pouring into our castaway's corral ... where they have been summarily skinned and their hides tanned. What luck! Huzzah!!!

So snugly.

Which one to go in front of the hearth?

Fur jackets for all!

Now that's a good tanning.

Home wasn't built in a day.

Well, here it is ...the last piece in the Top-of-Board Marker Set that's about to head off to a new home in the UK.

This one's the Shelter Construction marker, for the Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island board game.

There's no place like home.

Snuggle down within and forget about all of your
castaway woes.

Fresh flowers right at the front door ...well, front flap.

Classy zebra-skin design ..it's so vogue right now.

I knew that volume on neck-tie knotting would come
in handy one day.

View from a neighbouring palm.

The full set, ready for packing.

Now, time to continue on with the set heading off to the US ... no rest for the wicked!

If you'd like, you can see more of my creations for the Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island board game here.

Happy gaming!

Memento Mori

More commissioned work: This time it's the Weapon marker, also for the Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island board game.

If that troublesome wild llama manages to hoof and gnaw its way through your sturdily constructed palisade, you might just like to have something pointy and or choppy at hand; that's where these come in. Have at ye!

Also displaying the unfortunate castaway who was ill equipped
when the last rapacious llama made an appearance!

Don't be distracted by the pretty flora, that llama will be on you
like white on rice.

More items you'd be best not to try hurdling.

By the expression on that skull,
it doesn't look like his demise was a pleasant one.

I think he was getting a bit long in the tooth anyway.

Feel free to check out more of my Robinson Crusoe: Adventures on the Cursed Island here.
